A golf tournament and a 5K/10K run and walk are set for this weekend to celebrate the upcoming three-day-long Arnold Days Festival, which will be Friday through Sunday, Sept. 18-20.

Golf tourney

The city-owned Pomme Creek Golf Course, 1 Golfview Drive, will celebrate Arnold Days with a golf tournament Saturday, Sept. 12.

A shotgun start will be at 8 a.m. People may still register the morning of the event.

Entry in the two-person scramble is $35 a player, which includes use of a cart and lunch.

Bring your own partner or be paired up at the event.

There will be flights, skins, closest-to-the-hole contests and prizes.

Run/walk

In addition, the Arnold Chamber of Commerce will hold its Arnold Days Root Beer Foam Fest 5K/10K Run and Walk at 8 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, at Arnold City Park on Bradley Beach Road, off Jeffco Boulevard near the Meramec River.

The entry fee is $40 for the 5K and $50 for the 10K, for adults. Entry is $20 for those 17 and younger in either the 5K or 10K.

People may register the day of the event, prior to the start of the races.

There will be water- and root beer-chugging contests along the course and foam pits and bubble fun at the finish line. Root beer will be served, and a post-breakfast party will be included.

The race will be professionally timed. Trophies will be awarded to the top male and female in each age category.
