Windsor C-1 School District alumni have been invited to contribute video shoutouts of up to 30 seconds to teachers who left an impression on them.
Julie Schubert, the Windsor director of curriculum, said the idea is to thank people who work in an often thankless job.
“Teachers don’t often get to know how they’ve affected their students,” she said. “I thought, ‘Why don’t we collect these videos and show them?’”
She said the video compilation will be shown Oct. 2 on the Windsor stadium scoreboard before the Owl homecoming football game.
The deadline is Sept. 25 to participate in “Alumni Hoots for Windsor Teachers!”

She said the idea of the shoutouts came up as she was working on another project, “OwlTalk,” a communication platform and live feed. She describes it as “a platform for celebrations, information, humor and institutional history and culture.”
“Knowing that homecoming is approaching, a special episode was in my mind where we could hear the voices of our very own Owl alumni reminiscing about the impact faculty and staff have had on their lives,” Schubert said. “Being an educator, you may never know your impact on others, especially your students, as they grow and live their lives beyond Windsor. Thus, this project came about.”
She said “Alumni Hoots for Windsor Teachers!” is open to any alumni of Windsor schools.
“I do hope that our alumni share their fond memories with all of us, whether they are a recent graduate or one from a while back,” Schubert said. “Our Owls share a common bond of their alma mater and can unite in a positive message to our current and retired faculty, as well as to our whole school-community.”
Alumni attending the homecoming game also may participate in the effort for future distribution, Schubert said.
“At the homecoming game, there will be QR codes for alumni to scan if they, too, want to contribute a ‘Hoot’ to a faculty or staff member,” she said. “All will be curated and produced (in an OwlTalk) that will be made public on the Windsor School District’s website and social media accounts. The video should be ready sometime in mid-October. It really depends on the volume of submissions.”
