Tiffany M. Massey, 20, of Fenton, who was seriously hurt last night (July 29) in a two-car accident at highways 30 and BB in Cedar Hill, is listed in critical condition this afternoon (July 30), said a spokeswoman for Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur.

Massey’s 3-month old daughter, Scarlett Suedmeyer, and the baby’s father, Joshua D. Suedmeyer, 22, of Arnold, also were hurt in the accident.

Joshua Suedmeyer was listed in satisfactory condition this afternoon, the Mercy hospital spokeswoman said.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the baby also was taken to Mercy St. Louis, but the hospital had no information about her.

Massey’s aunt, Beverly Cummings of Imperial, said the baby is OK.

Cummings said Joshua Suedmeyer is alert and doing well, too.

Unfortunately, Massey is not, Cummings said.

She said her niece has swelling on her brain and is unresponsive.

A 24-year-old St. Louis man also was hurt in the accident, the Highway Patrol reported.

He sustained moderate injuries and was taken to St. Clare Health Center in Fenton and then transferred to St. Louis University Hospital.

He was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated, the patrol reported.

The St. Louis man was headed east in a 1994 Honda Accord, failed to stop at a traffic light and struck a southbound car head-on, the report said.

Joshua Suedmeyer was driving the southbound car, a 2014 Ford Focus, and the baby and Massey were passengers in it.

The patrol had the baby’s name spelled wrong in its report.

Cummings and others said the accident occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday (July 29), but the patrol reported that it occurred at 3:22 a.m. today.

Everyone involved in the accident, except for Massey, was wearing a seat belt or was restrained with a safety device, the patrol reported.

Both cars were totaled, the report said.
