Two Jefferson County teenagers were hurt Saturday evening (Nov 11) in a one-car accident on Tower Road south of Sunrise Drive in the Hillsboro area, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
At 5:25 p.m., Nicholas J. Barks, 18, of De Soto was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt south on Tower Road and failed to negotiate a curve before the car ran off the right side of the road, where it struck an embankment and overturned, the report said.
Barks was moderately injured, and a passenger in the car – Corey J. Apprill, 17, of Festus – sustained minor injuries. Both were taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County.
Barks was wearing a seat belt, but Apprill was not wearing one, the patrol reported.
The car was extensively damaged, the report said.
