Two Jefferson County men were injured Thursday evening, Sept. 26, in a two-vehicle accident at highways A and Z in the Mapaville area, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 4:55 p.m., Johnny L. Mayberry, 50, of Hillsboro was driving a 2009 Honda Odyssey east on Hwy. A and allegedly ran a red light and struck a 2016 Nissan Murano driven by Owen R. Mooney, 54, of Festus, who was trying to cross Hwy. A onto Hwy. Z at a green light, the report said.
Both drivers were moderately injured, according to the report.
Mayberry was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, where he was treated and released, and Mooney was taken by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County, where he was listed in satisfactory condition today, Sept. 27, a Mercy spokesman said.
Both men were wearing seat belts, the patrol reported.
The two vehicles were extensively damaged, the report said.
