A Festus R-6 school bus was rear-ended late Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 12) on Herky-Horine Road. The bus was carrying 10 students from the Festus intermediate and elementary schools at the time, but no one on the bus was injured district officials reported.
Festus R-6 spokesman Kevin Pope said the accident occurred shortly after 4 p.m.
“The (bus) driver had just dropped students at a stop and was beginning to move again when the car hit it from behind,” according to an email district officials sent parents Tuesday evening.
No details about the other vehicle or driver were available.
After the accident, the bus driver was able to continue driving the bus and dropped off the rest of the students at their stops, the email said.
Pope, the district’s coordinator of communications and special projects, said damage to the bus was “negligible.” He did not have an estimate on repair costs.
