I-55 is shut down in both directions this afternoon (June 19) following a fatal accident involving two tractor-trailers between Church Road and Hwy. 141 in Arnold, as well as a tractor-trailer fire near Butler Hill Road in south St. Louis County, said Al Nothum, spokesman for the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Nothum said he didn’t have many other details because the patrol is busy with the two incidents.
At about 2:30 p.m., he said the interstate could be shut down for quite a while.
Nothum said he believed the tractor-trailer fire near Butler Hill involved hazardous materials.
