A High Ridge man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle accident on County Line Drive south of Stone Mountain Drive in the Goose Creek development in St. Francois County that left two High Ridge children seriously injured, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 10:50 p.m., the 44-year-old High Ridge man was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 north on County Line Road, and the pickup traveled off the road before the man overcorrected and the truck returned to the road and overturned, the report said.
No injuries were reported for the man. However, the 11-year-old girl and 15-year-old boy who were passengers in the pickup were taken by helicopter to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, according to the report.
The man was wearing a seat belt, but the children were not, the patrol reported.
The pickup was totaled, the report said.
The highway patrol arrested the man later that night for two counts of DWI resulting in serious injury and two counts of DWI resulting in injury of children younger than 17, according to the report.
The man’s name will not be published unless charges are filed in the case, and as of today, Sept. 3, none had been filed.
The highway patrol didn’t release the children’s names because they are juveniles.
