A 28-year-old Dittmer man died in a crash that also seriously injured a 72-year-old Dittmer man in the 8000 block of Hwy. 30 in Dittmer, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

At 9:17 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, the 28-year-old man was driving a westbound 2012 Ford Focus and traveled across the center line, the report said. The man steered to the right to avoid an eastbound 2019 Dodge Ram driven by the 72-year-old man, and the front of the Dodge struck the left side of the Ford.

Emergency personnel pronounced the 28-year-old man dead on the scene at 9:24 a.m., and he was transported by Edwards Mortuary Service to the St. Louis County Medical Examiner’s office, the report said.

Big River Ambulance District personnel transported the 72-year-old man, who was seriously injured, to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.

According to the report, both drivers were wearing seat belts, and both vehicles were totaled.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol does not release names of the drivers. The name of the 28-year-old man has not been released by the examiner’s office as of Thursday morning, July 31.
