A 55-year-old De Soto man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle accident Friday night (Dec. 8) on Fountain City Road east of Greenhouse Road in the De Soto area. The man was hurt in the accident, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

At 8:23 p.m., the man was driving a 2002 Ford Ranger west on Fountain City Road, and the pickup ran partially off the right side of the road before the man steered to the left trying to return to the road, but the pickup started to skid and spin and then ran off the left side of the road, where the front right side of the pickup struck a tree, the report said.

The man was moderately injured and taken by Valle Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City.

He was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.

The pickup was totaled, the report said.

The highway patrol arrested the man at the hospital and released him pending application for warrants.
