There’s still time to send in entries to the Picture Your Pet photography contest, sponsored by Grand Times, Leader Publications’ magazine for seniors.

The contest is open to readers 50 and older in Jefferson County, Eureka and Wildwood.

Entries will be judged on creativity, composition, charm and technical aspects such as crop, focus and lighting. First prize is $100, second prize is $75 and third prize $50.

Readers are limited to one entry per pet and three entries per person. A group photo counts as the entry for each pet.

To be eligible for the contest, entries must include the following information:

■ Entrant’s name, age, address and phone number. (Entries missing this information will not be considered for prizes.)

■ The pet’s name and age and its breed, if known.

■ Approximately when the photo was taken.

■ A brief explanation of why the photograph is special to you.

The deadline to enter the Picture Your Pet photo contest is 5 p.m. Thursday, May 29. Photo contest entries may be emailed to news@myleaderpaper.com; mailed to Picture Your Pet, Leader Publications, P.O. Box 159, Festus, 63028; or dropped off at the Leader office at 503 N. Second St., in Festus.

Photos will be returned by mail if a self-addressed stamped envelope is included.

Winning photos will be published in Grand Times, which will be delivered in the mail in the June 12 Leader, in conjunction with the Festus Senior Expo.

Photos that are not published in the Leader may be posted to the paper’s website at myleaderpaper.com.

For information about the contest or the Senior Expo, call the Leader at 636-931-7560.

Seniors are invited to attend the Festus Senior Expo from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 18, at the Jefferson County YMCA, 1303 YMCA Drive.

Businesses and people who have a product or service of interest to those 50 and older are encouraged to call the Leader to reserve a booth at 636-931-7560 or email ads@myleaderpaper.com.
