Classic cars, beat-up station wagons, childhood tricycles and even prized racehorses could be the subject of entries to the Leader’s annual My Best Ride photo contest.
The contest, sponsored by Grand Times, Leader Publications’ magazine for senior citizens, is now accepting submissions from residents of Jefferson County, Eureka and Wildwood who are 50 and older.
Readers are welcome to send a photo of their best ride along with an explanation of why it’s their favorite. Three winners will be drawn at random from all the entries to win cash prizes – $100 for the first name drawn, $75 for the second and $50 for the third.
The deadline for entering the contest is 5 p.m. Thursday, July 2. Readers are limited to one entry per “ride” and three entries per person.
Photo contest entries should include the following information:
■ Entrant’s name, age, address and phone number, so that winners may be contacted.
■ The date and place the photo was taken and by whom.
■ The make, model or type of vehicle and how you obtained it.
■ The names of any people in the photo.
■ Any other information about the photo that explains why it is memorable.
The July 16 issue of Grand Times will feature as many entries as space allows, with all submissions posted to the Leader website.
That issue also will include information about the West Side Senior Expo, set for Wednesday, July 22, at Northwest High School in Cedar Hill.
Send entries by mail to My Best Ride, c/o Leader Publications, P.O. Box 159, Festus, 63028; drop them off at the Leader office, 503 N. Second St., in Festus; or email them to news@myleaderpaper.com.
Photos accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope will be mailed back; others will be held for pickup.
For more information about the contest or about the Senior Expo, call the Leader at 636-931-7560.
Businesses and people who have a product or service of interest to those 50 and older are encouraged to call the Leader to reserve a booth or email ads@myleaderpaper.com.
