The fourth annual Worship in the Park will return Saturday, Oct. 3, to Larry G. Crites Memorial Park in Festus with an evening of Christian nondenominational music.
The event, which has no admission fee, is organized each year by Kim and Adam Rushing.
It takes place from 4-10 p.m. at the park along Old Hwy. A in Festus. Donations are accepted.
Kim Rushing said the event has grown a strong following.
“We had about 5,000 attend last year,” she said. “It’s just a good time for the community to come together to worship.”
Scheduled performers are Canaan Baca, Oak Bridge Community Church, Psalms of David, Zach & Adam, and Radiant Life Church.
DJ Integrity will emcee the event.
“It’s a fun time,” Rushing said. “I think people like that it’s free. We’ll have food trucks. We give out glow sticks.”
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or other items to sit on in front of Mayor Mike’s Stage, and coolers are allowed.
The Rushings received a $10,000 grant from the Festus Tourism Commission to help put on the Worship in the Park festival.
