Jefferson College has scheduled a variety of “Welcome Week” activities Monday, Aug. 24, through Friday, Aug. 28, for students beginning the new school year on its Arnold and Hillsboro campuses.
Brandi Gallaway, Jefferson College student development coordinator, said the college holds the week to help students transition from summer to back to school.
“(Welcome Week is) to help them feel like they belong at Jefferson College, possibly calm nerves and get them excited about the semester ahead,” she said.
“We at Jefferson College also want them to know that they are valued, and we are excited that they are here.”
Monday will feature free Starbucks drinks, breakfast items and goodie bags available for students.
This giveaway will highlight the Academic Success Center, a Jefferson College program that offers free tutoring to students throughout the school year.
On Tuesday, students can participate in self-paced bingo, where they find items around campus to complete their card.
Students can exchange their bingos for various prizes.
On Wednesday at the Hillsboro campus and Thursday on the Arnold campus, the college will have a hot dog giveaway along with yard games that students can play in between classes.
Members of Gracelife Chapel will help with the hot dog giveaway on the Hillsboro campus.
On Wednesday at the Arnold campus and Thursday at the Hillsboro campus, an iPad-powered photo booth will be set up for students to use during the school day.
This year, Jefferson College has 2,912 students enrolled for the fall semester.
