It’s not too late to get your free tickets to the Leader Wedding Fair, set for Sunday, Feb. 2.
The 31st annual Wedding Fair will be held from 12:30-3:30 p.m. at the Corpus Christi Event Center at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Imperial.
After the free tickets are given away, the remaining tickets will cost $3 in advance or $5 at the door.
“You may get those free tickets by going to myleaderpaper.com/weddings/ and entering the code ‘WEDDINGBELLS.’”
Each year, the Leader donates proceeds from the sale of wedding fair tickets to a local charity. This year, the Leader will donate to the Spotlight Community Theatre organization, which was founded in 2022 and provides opportunities for people of all ages from Jefferson County and beyond to take part in musicals and other productions, both on stage and behind the scenes.
“In Wedding Fair history, more than $51,000 has been raised for local charities,” Skaggs said.
Last year, more than 400 people attended the wedding fair.
Skaggs said anyone who plans to get married in the near future should check out the event.
“If someone has popped the question to you or if you suspect a wedding proposal is in your future, this is a great place to start your planning or even finalize your plans,” she said. “Whatever stage you are in, definitely come out. Every year we have a wide range of vendors: photographers, caterers, event planners, travel agents, dress shops, tuxedo shops and more.
“I highly recommend bringing your whole wedding party. Make a fun afternoon of it.”
Skaggs said a lot of vendors have signed up already, but there is still space left.
This year’s wedding fair will offer a little something extra, with two fashion shows scheduled, Skaggs said.
Savvi Formalwear of St. Louis will have a tuxedo and suits fashion show.
“The models will be members of the Spotlight Community Theatre group,” she said.
Clarice’s Bridal of St. Louis will once again put on a wedding dress fashion show.
“We will also have speakers related to planning and coordinating your day,” Skaggs said.
A lot of women who are not engaged attend the fair to get ideas for future weddings, and others who are planning different special events also attend, Skaggs added.
“It’s just a fun day,” she said.
