Carnival rides are a big draw to Pevely Days, which will be held Aug. 18-20.

After last year’s success, the annual Pevely Days festival is set to return for another three-day run from Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 18-20, at Pevely Park, 48 Main St. Some activities also will be held along Main Street.

Hours will be 5-10 p.m. Aug. 18, 5-11 p.m. Aug. 19, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 20.

There is no charge to attend the festival, which will include carnival rides, live music, animals, food and more.

Throughout the night of Aug. 18, Platinum Entertainment will provide DJ music.

Past Ambitions, a local classic rock band, will perform from 6-10 p.m. Aug. 19.

On Aug. 20, Platinum Entertainment will DJ again during the day, and the Johnathan Braddy Band, a local country band, will perform that night from 6-10 p.m.

A variety of vendors will be on hand, including a beer truck, food trucks, craft vendors, business vendors and informational vendors.

Other festivities will include mechanical bull rides, a petting zoo, pony rides and free caricatures.

Animals R Us will put on a free petting zoo from 5-10 p.m. on Aug. 19 and Aug. 20.

The pony rides will be available from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Aug. 20.

The mechanical bull rides will be on Aug. 19-20 and will cost $5 per ride with a required waiver.

Fountain City Amusements will provide the carnival rides.

“(Aug. 18) is family night. There will be ride wristbands sold for $25 valid from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. on (Aug. 18) only. Individual tickets will be $1 and the number of tickets required per ride will vary,” said Linda Miles, Pevely’s deputy city clerk.

On the morning of Aug. 20, a car show will be held at the corner of Joachim and Main streets in Pevely, with registration opening at 7 a.m. The car show runs from 8 a.m. to noon. All vehicles are welcome, and there is no cost to enter a vehicle or attend the car show.

An opening ceremony including a performance of the national anthem and a flag-retirement ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. Aug. 20.

The Twin City Cornhole group will hold a cornhole tournament, which starts at 11 a.m. Aug. 20. Entry will cost $50 per team. The winning team will win a cash prize, with the amount determined by how many teams participate in the tournament.

The fair will end with a fireworks display at 10 p.m. on Aug. 20.

“We’re excited to host this event for our residents and guests and enjoy seeing everyone come together to have a good time,” Miles said. “We had a great turnout last year and we’re preparing for this year’s event to be bigger and better.”

Pevely aldermen agreed at a Feb. 21 meeting to pay the Johnathan Braddy Band $3,500 to perform at the festival and to book Fountain City Amusements to provide the rides, with the company paying Pevely 15 percent of the gross ride ticket receipts.
