The fourth annual Cruisin’ For a Cause vehicle show to benefit the Ozark Food Pantry is set for Sept. 26 at Larry G. Crites Memorial Park in Festus.
The event, which is put on by Project Generosity, will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the field next to the gazebo in the front portion of the north section of the park along Old Hwy. A. Vehicle registration is 9-11:30 a.m.
Pre-registration to enter the vehicle show is $20 and ends Sunday. Registration after Sunday will cost $25.
There is no admission fee to attended the show.
“We have cars. We have trucks. We have Jeeps,” said Lynnsie Kerperien, an event organizer and Ozark Food Pantry board member.
“On average, we get about 66 vehicles a year. We get hundreds of people who come to look at the vehicles. It really has been a successful event.”
Participants are eligible to win awards in categories such as Best Car, Best Truck, Best Jeep, Best Bike, Kids Favorite and People’s Choice Award.
Raffles and a 50-50 drawing will be held during the show.
There also will be attendance prizes, food trucks, a DJ playing music and a food drive to collect donations for the pantry.
Kerperien said there is no shortage of families and individuals who come to the Ozark Food Pantry for assistance.
“(The vehicle show) is a way to make the community aware that the pantry feeds 200 families every Saturday,” she said. “The need has not slowed down.”
People are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to be donated to Ozark Food Pantry. Suggested items for donation include: cereals, meal bars, pastas, meal kits, ketchup, peanut butter, rice, canned fruit, beans and vegetables.
Kerperien said Ozark Food Pantry has served the community, which includes the Pevely, Herculaneum, Crystal City, Festus and Hematite areas, for 41 years.
