The Tanglefoot Art Walk, which has a new name this year, is set for Sunday.
It will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. along Main Street, between Mill Street and Brierton Lane, in downtown Festus.
Admission is free.
Previously the event was called The Tanglefoot Summerfest Artwalk, and last year it was held on a Saturday.
Michelle Hohmeier, an event organizer, said it is significant that “summerfest” is no longer part of the name.
“It’s even more focused on art,” Hohmeier said. “People can look at the art and purchase art.”
The Historic Tanglefoot Association sponsors the event, which will showcase works from a variety of artists.
“We have artists who work in several different mediums – clay, painting, metal work, digital media, jewelry, mixed media, woodworking,” Hohmeier said. “The art will be displayed in booths in the street, like vendors do at Twin City Days.”
She said a number of Main Street businesses will have special hours during the Art Walk.
“Not every merchant will be open, but some will be open for the event,” she said.
Food and drinks will be sold, and live music will be featured, Hohmeier said.
“LaChance Winery of Kimmswick will be here,” she said. “It will be their first time at the Art Walk. Main Street businesses such as the Main & Mill Brewing Co., Braided Bakery, H&K’s Loaded Sugar Shack, Pine Mountain will be open. Pogolino’s will have a tent set up.
“We’ll have four food trucks. Pedal’n Pi will bring their mobile pizza oven on a trailer. Also, Bob’s Drive In, Picture Perfect Panini and the Farmhouse Food Truck are scheduled to be there.”
Live music will include Hi/Lo Buffalo from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. in front of Pogolino’s, 29 E. Main St.; Jason Cole, from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. in front of Tree of Life Home Decor & Furnishings, 109 E. Main St.; Holly Schultz, 1:15-4 p.m. in front of Tree of Life Home Decor & Furnishings; and The Dandy Lions, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of Hello Again, 222 E. Main St.
“We’ll have a children’s art area on the parking lot next to Pogolino’s,” Hohmeier added. “Kids draw on the asphalt with chalk.”
She said the event is for all ages.
“The Tanglefoot Art Walk is family friendly,” Hohmeier said.
The Festus Tourism Commission provided a $9,450 grant to help fund the festival, at one time called A Taste of Tanglefoot before becoming the Tanglefoot Summerfest Artwalk and, now, the Tanglefoot Art Walk.
“We have a rain date, which is the following Sunday, June 30,” Hohmeier said.
