The eighth annual Main & Mill Brewing Company and Barrelworks StreetFest coming Saturday, Oct. 14, to Festus Main Street will offer 10 hours of live music.
The music festival runs from 1-11 p.m. on Main Street in front of the brewery-restaurant, 240 E. Main St., and neighboring businesses. During the event, Main Street will be closed to vehicle traffic from Mill Street to Adams Street.
“The general set-up will be the same as last year, with two stages,” said Denny Foster, an owner of the Main & Mill business and the event organizer. “One band performs at a time. One sets up on one stage, while another is performing on the other stage.”
Foster said other business owners along Main Street/Crystal City Bailey Road have indicated they will take part by having Saturday hours if not normally open on Saturdays or extend their normal Saturday hours.
“Most of the downtown businesses will be open,” he said. “They said they’ll participate.”
Along with fare from downtown restaurants, food and other refreshments will be offered by food trucks, Foster said.
He said StreetFest has become an entrenched downtown event each October.
“This is our eighth StreetFest,” he said. “We did not have one due to COVID, but had an extra one for a year when we also had one in the summer, so it is the eighth one. The turnout has been great.”
The Festus Tourism Commission and Main & Mill’s new All-Terrain Beer are listed as the event’s co-sponsors.
“All-Terrain Beer will be our new flagship beer brewed for Jefferson County,” Foster said.
He said the day will be filled with entertaining performers.
The following musical acts are scheduled to appear:
■ 1-2 p.m. Meyer’s Music Lessons.
“It’s like ‘School of Rock’ (2003 movie starring Jack Black),” Foster said. “Kids play. They’ll be doing rock music. They’re students of Meyer’s Music Lessons.”
■ 2-3 p.m. Festus High School Jazz Band.
■ 3-4 p.m. Meatus.
“They’re from the Festus area,” he said. “They have original rock music.”
■ 4-5 p.m. Janatrix.
“They play a variety of rock, their own and covers,” he said of the St. Louis band.
■ 5-6 p.m. Blond Guru.
“It’s a St. Louis alternative-style rock group,” Foster said.
■ 6-7 p.m. Apex Shrine.
“They’re really great guitar players,” he said. “They say they’re groovy rock ‘n’ roll.”
■ 7-8 p.m. The Whiffs.
“It’s a Kansas City group,” Foster said. “They play their own music and classic rock.”
■ 8-9 p.m. Middle Class Fashion.
“They’re a St. Louis band,” he said. “They play their own pop music.”
■ 9-11 p.m. The Steve Ewing Band.
“They’re also from St. Louis,” he said. “(Steve Ewing) is the lead singer of The Urge, a popular St. Louis band. The Steve Ewing Band will do songs from The Urge and other classic covers.”
