The 10th annual Main & Mill StreetFest will be held this Saturday, offering live music from a number of regional bands.

It’s free to attend the festival, which is put on by Main & Mill Brewing Company and Barrelworks and will run from noon to 11 p.m. on Main Street in Festus.

During the festival, the street will be closed to vehicle traffic between Mill Street and Adams Street.

Festival sponsors include the Festus Tourism Commission, All-Terrain Beer, Steve’s Hot Dogs and the Festus Main Street Association.

At the festival, most of the participating bands will play covers of songs made popular by a particular musical act.

“They’ll play as (the specific band) for the entire set,” said Denny Foster, a Main & Mill owner and event organizer.

The area bands will cover performers like the Beatles, Waylon Jennings, Talking Heads and the Dave Matthews Band, among others. Performances will take place on two stages.

In addition to the Main & Mill bar and restaurant, 240 E. Main St, other businesses along Main Street in Festus and Bailey Road in Crystal City will participate in the festival, Foster said.

“Nearly every business will be open during the festival,” he said.

Foster said StreetFest gets strong community support and pulls in visitors from a wide region.

“If the weather cooperates, we’re hoping for thousands of people to come to town during the day,” he said. “It’s an event we feel the community looks forward to.”

Food truck vendors, including Steve’s Hot Dogs, will offer their wares. In addition, various vendors will be on hand, and other fun activities will be offered, Foster said.

“We’re having the Children’s Entrepreneur Market,” he said. “Between 50 and 70 children entrepreneurs will be selling items.

“We’ll have a caricature artist and a balloon animal person. There will be a henna tattoo artist.”
