Those wanting to kick-start their career, pivot to a new industry or re-enter the workforce should come out to the sixth annual Jefferson County Job Fair.

It is free to attend the Job Fair, which is set for 2:30-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the Fox C-6 Service Center, 849 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold, and offers a chance for job seekers to network with prospective employers and hone their resume and interview skills.

The presenting sponsor for the fair is Express Employment Professionals. Other sponsors include Leader Publications, the Arnold Chamber of Commerce, the city of Arnold, the Fox C-6 School District, Jefferson College and the Jefferson County Library.

According to Katelyn Mary Skaggs, digital marketing manager for the Leader, the Job Fair has created success stories year after year, with some employers ready to conduct interviews and hire on-site.

Being prepared with resumes and a quick “elevator pitch” – information about who you are, what kind of job you’re looking for and what you can offer employers – will help attendees connect with potential employers.

Representatives from a variety of businesses and industries, from manufacturing to nursing to education and more, will be at the fair.

In addition to meeting with those employers, job seekers will have the chance to get free professional photos taken for their social media profiles.

Leader publisher Peggy Scott said it is common for people, even those with work experience under their belts, to be unfamiliar with newer practices for building a professional online profile.

Photographer Brandon Scheldt of Farmington Photo will be at the fair to take headshots for job seekers, which can be used on professional websites, profiles and resumes.

Attendees also will have the chance to win door prizes throughout the fair.

Jefferson College will have representatives from its Workforce and Employment Services on hand to offer advice on composing an effective resume and preparing for interviews. For the first time, attendees may receive guidance on creating a LinkedIn page.

The Jefferson County Library will have representatives on hand to show off tools for job hunting and skill building that may be accessed by anyone with a county library card.
