Crystal City’s fourth annual Santa in the Park event will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Crystal City Municipal Park, 1400 Dick Cook Drive.
Admission to the event is free.
Pam Meese, manager of the Summit at Crystal City Park, said the event will begin near the lighted Christmas tree in the center of the park where Santa Claus will be available for pictures throughout the event.
Meese said the event will include free carriage rides, starting at the Summit building, 1511 Park Drive.
Also at the Summit building, the Crystal City Park Board will serve free coffee, hot chocolate, desserts and crafts.
Meese said in the case of inclement weather, Santa will be moved inside of the Summit building.
Crystal City Mayor Mike Osher said about 200 people attended the event last year and he hopes even more attend this year.
“I’m excited that our event keeps growing and providing more activities for all to enjoy,” Osher said.
He said the Crystal City High Concert School choir will sing Christmas carols starting at 5:30 p.m. The performance will last about 30 minutes, depending on weather.
“The Crystal City choir does an amazing job each year, and it’s always a crowd favorite,” Osher said.
He said attendees can expect some upgrades from last year’s event that will help shorten wait times.
“This year, we have new carriages that are larger, easier to load and are led by a pair of horses,” he said.
Osher said the event is only celebrating its fourth year, but it has quickly become a holiday staple for Crystal City residents.
“Our Santa in the Park event is something the community looks forward to every year,” Osher said.
“Seeing everybody visiting and enjoying their evening is a perfect addition to our holiday season.”
