The Saline Valley Fire Protection District will participate in a Christmas toy drive on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Fenton Walmart, 653 Gravois Bluffs Blvd. The goal is to make the holiday brighter for students from two Fox C-6 elementary schools.
From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., firefighters will collect donations for families in need from Guffey Elementary, 400 13th St., in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton, and Meramec Heights Elementary, 1340 W. Outer 21 Road in the Arnold area.
The district will be collecting for at least seven families and 18 children based on applications the fire district received from the schools, Saline Valley Fire office manager Jennifer Jenkins said.
On the day of the toy drive, there will be boards with cards on them listing what items the children need and what they’ve asked for, Jenkins said.
“Individuals may pick a card from the board and purchase the item,” she said.
A collection boot will also be available if people want to donate money.
“It is about helping the children who live in our community through the school system in our district,” Jenkins said.
