Favorite activities to return for 2024 Pevely Days

This year’s Pevely Days is set for Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 15-17, at Pevely City Park, 60 Main St.

This year’s Pevely Days is set for Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 15-17, at Pevely City Park, 60 Main St.

Those who attend the 2024 Pevely Days festival, set for Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 15-17, can expect to see the return of the popular activities they have come to love.

“I think everything is pretty much the same,” said Linda Miles, an event organizer. “We’re sticking with things that have worked over the years.”

Festivities primarily will be held in Pevely City Park, 60 Main St., but a related car show is scheduled for 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 17 along Main Street, Miles said.

The festival will include carnival rides, live music, games, and food and craft vendors selling their wares.

Admission to the festival is free, but some activities are free, while others have a cost.

Aug. 15 is designated as Family Night, the only time wristbands for unlimited carnival rides will be used. The other days, the rides are sold by the ticket.

“The Family Night, with $25 for wristbands, is popular,” Miles said.

She said plenty of other fun activities are planned.

“We will have the Bubble Bus that’s free – the city provides it,” she said. “The Bubble Bus just continuously blows out bubbles. There are also free caricatures. That’s always super popular. They’ve always got a long line. There’s a petting zoo that’s free.

“There is a charge for the pony rides. An animal rescue, Meadowcrest Animal Rescue, provides the ponies. We’ll have a mechanical bull you can ride for a $5 fee. This is the first year we’re having the mechanical bull all three days.”

Free music also will be included.

Platinum Entertainment DJ Service will play music the evening of Aug. 15, while the Past Ambitions band is scheduled to perform on Aug. 16, and the Johnathan Braddy Band is set to play on Aug. 17.

“Past Ambitions plays classic rock covering hits of the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. We’ve not had them before,” Miles said. “We’ve had (the Johnathan Braddy Band) before. They bring a good crowd.”

She said an opening ceremony to mark the last day of the ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 17.

“The Marine Corps League will have its color guard,” Miles said. “They coordinate with the Boy Scouts for a flag retirement ceremony. It’s a good time to bring your own flags that need to be retired."
