The public is invited to meet with local authors, purchase their works and get books signed at the Local Author Showcase on Saturday.

The showcase will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Northwest Branch of the Jefferson County Library, 5680 Hwy. PP, in High Ridge.

Registration is not required.

Organizer Debby Hodges said the library is holding the event again after taking a few years off.

“We don’t usually do one-on-one author events, but we have in the past done a local author showcase – and we’re doing it again,” she said. “I believe our last one was in 2022, but the weather was really bad that day. We’re doing it again in a different time of the year with hopefully better weather.”

The event will include 10-plus authors from Jefferson and St. Louis counties who have books published in a variety of genres, including books for children, young adults and adults, Hodges said.

Those interested in attending are welcome to pop in and out of the library, she said.

“(The authors) are going to have a lot of tables set up where they can sell their books and any swag they have,” she said. “If they want to, we can do 10- to 15-minute book discussions, question and answer talks about the process of writing and getting things published, that sort of thing.”

Authors are encouraged to bring extra books or “swag” for door prizes and giveaway raffles. The library will also keep some of the author’s books for its local author collection.

“We thought we’d give (the showcase) another shot,” Hodges said. “It’s the one time we allow people to sell their books in-house. That’s always fun for us to be able to do for people.

“Come on out, and peruse the different tables set up all throughout the library.”
