Do you know a woman who has made an impact on the community?
Nominations are open until Jan. 2 for Leader Publications’ inaugural Women of Impact Awards. Nominated women should have a connection to Jefferson County, Eureka or Wildwood.
“I hope if someone who knows a woman who has really gone the extra mile, the person will take time to nominate that woman,” said Katelyn Mary Skaggs, digital marketing manager for the Leader. “It could be a nurse who always goes above and beyond for patients. It could be a woman who is typically behind the scenes at a business but is really making things happen there, or it could be a stay-at-home mom who is really involved in her children’s schools and activities.
“We are looking for women in our community who have made an impact but have gone unrecognized for one reason or another. We can’t do it alone. We are asking the community to point us in the right direction.”
Skaggs said anyone can nominate a woman for the award.

The form will ask for information about the nominee, such as her occupation, connection with organizations or businesses, how she has impacted the community and why she deserves to be nominated.
Skaggs said a committee of women from the community, not Leader employees, will pick four women from the nominations to receive the award this year.
The winners will be announced during the Leader’s Celebrating Women event, which will be held from 6-10 p.m. Friday, March 28, at the Oak Valley Golf Course and Resort, 1230 Abbey Lane, in Pevely.
Tickets for the event will go on sale on Jan. 2 on the Leader’s website and at the Leader’s office, 503 N. Second St., in Festus. Admission for the event is $40 per person and includes an open bar and a buffet dinner. The theme is “Hollywood Glam,” and space is limited.
Nominations will be kept on file and considered for up to three years.
