The Jefferson and Southern Model Railroad Club will set up an elaborate model train display during the Twin City Days festival.

The model train display will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, inside Four O Six, a city-owned rental space at 406 W. Main St., next door to the Festus Public Library.

Bob Miller said the Jefferson County club is returning to Twin City Days after more than a decade.

“We did a display at Twin City Days around 12, 13 years ago” Miller said. “That was in the same building.”

He said the display will be 44 feet long and 20- to 24-feet wide.

“The display is a scene of Festus, probably from the 1960s,” Miller said. “What I’ve created was around Mill Street at Fifth Street.”

Visitors may look at, but not operate, the model train display, he said.

“It’s a spectator thing,” Miller said. “People can wander around and look all they want.”

There is no attendance charge for those 12 years old or younger. Those 13 and older will pay $1.

Most of the activities of Twin City Days are scheduled for Sept. 10-12 at different sites in Crystal City and Festus, although some of them take place outside of those days.

Festus city officials said Four O Six, while it will be used for the display during Twin City Days, is not yet ready to be offered for public rental.
