If you’re planning a wedding or other formal event, the Leader Wedding Fair might be the perfect place to find exactly what you need.
This year’s fair is slated for Sunday, Feb. 5, at the Corpus Christi Event Center at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 6020 Old Antonia Road, in Imperial.
“This is a new location, and we’re excited about all the possibilities it offers for one of our favorite events,” Leader publisher Peggy Scott said.
Admission to the Wedding Fair is $10 in advance, with tickets available online at myleaderpaper.com, or $15 on the day of the fair. Proceeds benefit Comtrea’s A Safe Place, a shelter for women who have been victims of domestic abuse, as well as for their children.
“We’re always happy to partner with local charities to help make our community better,” Scott said.
Those hoping to attend should visit the Leader Publications Facebook page to enter a drawing for five free tickets. Deadline to enter is noon Wednesday, Jan. 25.
At the fair, a wide variety of vendors will be on hand with products and services geared toward those planning a wedding or other celebration, such as venues, music, photography, food, decorations, honeymoon travel and more.
Many vendors will offer door prizes and giveaways. Smart brides-to-be will bring pre-printed adhesive labels to make entering those drawings easier.
The first 50 brides in the door will receive a special “goodie bag” containing both practical items and fun stuff.
A full schedule of events is being planned for the fair:
■ Vivian James American Beauty salon in Crystal City will offer tutorials on styles and tips on the best ways to show off your hair on your big day. It also will offer a makeup tutorial and will showcase styles and trends in makeup.
■ Launch Pointe Dance Studio will offer free dance lessons.
■ The Bridal Collection in Arnold will hold a fashion show, with bridal gowns in a number of styles.
■ Mimosas and other beverages will be available for purchase.
A special section will be published in the Feb. 2 issue of the paper, showcasing the winner of the “Share the Love” photo contest held in conjunction with the fair and including more information and an up-to-the-last-minute schedule.
