Cedar Hill native Nino Accardi is organizing a series of family friendly events called Cedar Hill Nights, with the first on Friday, June 6.

The event will include food trucks, craft vendors and a live DJ.

Accardi said the Big River VFW Post 5331, 1 Lynn Lane, in Cedar Hill has permitted him to hold the events twice a month in the parking lot.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. for the June 6 event, and it will go on until 11 p.m., or earlier if food sells out. No admission fee will be charged.

The Jamz Man is slated to DJ the event, and the Missouri chapter of the Hardknocks Car Club will display some of its hot rods, rat rods, choppers and Harleys.

Some of the food trucks include Sweet Waffle STL, Smokey D’s and the Sips Mobile Drink Bar.

While the events are still in the works, Accardi believes they’ll become staple for residents from Cedar Hill and the surrounding areas, giving them a fun reason to come together.

Accardi said he proposed the concept of Cedar Hill Nights on Facebook and received an overwhelming amount of support.

“I made a Facebook post one day to see if anybody would be interested in it,” Acardi said. “All of a sudden, people started reaching out to me – they wanted a family-friendly event in our area.”

Accardi is a 2009 Northwest High School graduate and is the founder of Trucks 4 Kidz, a nonprofit organization that helps families search for missing and runaway children. The organization was founded in 2015.

He said the June 6 event will serve as a test run.

Accardi is also working to organize a movie night at the Big River VFW for Cedar Hill Nights; however, a date for the event had not been set as of May 23, at Leader deadline.

“My goal is to bring people to the town (and) bring people together,” he said.
