The community is invited to the House Springs Lions Club’s Car, Bike & Truck Show on Sunday, Sept. 8, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in House Springs.

Lions member Cyndi Carr said the annual show is one of the biggest events the club organizes every year.

The show begins at 9 a.m. at the hall, 6800 Knights of Columbus Lane, and ends at 4 p.m.

There is a $15 entry fee for those who wish to enter their ride in the show. Otherwise, the event is free to the public.

The first 100 entrants will receive a dash plaque.

Burgers, hot dogs, brats, beer and soda will be available for purchase. Carr said the show will have live music.

“It’s usually a really big event,” Carr said. “We want to raise as much as possible, and we try to outdo ourselves every year.”

The proceeds from the concession sales and raffle ticket sales during the show will go toward the Lions Club’s chosen charitable organizations championing vision care for those who can’t afford it. In the past, proceeds have gone to KidSight, a St. Louis-based nonprofit that provides free vision screenings for children.

Carr said the trophies for the show’s vehicle categories are one of the biggest expenses for the clubs. The entry fee and company sponsorships cover the costs for the trophies, she said. Up for grabs are dozens of awards for best car, truck, and bike in the show. The motorist club with the most show entries will also win a “special” award.

Carr said the event is “all hands on deck” for the club. Even non-Lions members volunteer to run the car show.

“They are just awesome,” Carr said. “We depend on them every year because they do a lot of work and they help us out a lot. It’s a fun event, so people don’t mind working the car shows, like the car judges.”

Other organizations and groups will set up booths during the car show, Carr said. The Rock Community Lions Club will sell fresh and frozen lemonade for the second year, she said, which people can “spike” with alcohol if they choose.

“The frozen lemonade was a really big hit last year,” Carr said.

One big goal for the House Springs Lions is to ensure the community knows they are still here. In 2020, the club sold its meeting hall at 6482 Hwy. MM. The club now holds its meetings at local restaurants and has struck a deal with the Knights of Columbus to use their hall for large events.

“We just want more people to know that even though we sold our building, we’re still here,” Carr said. “A lot of people assume that we don’t meet anymore, but we are still very active in the community.”
