The Holy Family Catholic Parish will hold one of its main fundraising events this month.
The parish, formed when the Immaculate Conception and St. David parishes merged in May 2023, will hold a Dueling Pianos and Auction Night at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at the Parish Center on the Church Road campus, 2300 Church Road, in Arnold.
An individual ticket costs $50 and a table of eight costs $400. Tickets for the event must be purchased by Friday, March 14. They may be purchased online at 2025pianos.givesmart.com.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the parish’s general fund to help pay for the church and Holy Family Catholic School operational costs.
Jason Hardin, a parish member who is helping to organize the event, said the parish traditionally held an auction in the fall to raise funds for the parish and the Holy Family School. However, it held a Casino Night, which featured both silent and live auctions, last year.
He said the parish pivoted to the dueling pianos attraction to accompany the silent and live auctions this year after deciding not to hold a second Casino Night.
“We did a piano thing a couple of years ago,” Hardin said. “It is a fun evening. You will be able to request songs. You can pay to have a friend called up on stage to dance. It is a fun, interactive evening with dancing and live music.”
Hardin said the fundraising event may not always be held in March, adding that the parish may change what type of entertainment accompanies the auction.
The parish picnic is typically held in May.
“We have traditionally had the auction and picnic as the two main money-raising events for the parish,” he said. “We have other ideas of things to do in the future as fundraising events. We want to incorporate different things to keep things interesting. You may be able to do dueling pianos every year, but people may become bored with it. It could be something that is sprinkled in here and there.”
The March 15 event will be divided into two parts, with a pre-party, featuring yard games and music, from 6-8 p.m., and Spanky Entertainment Dueling Pianos from 8-10 p.m.
A silent auction will be held throughout the night. Some of the items to be auctioned include a day with a teacher, a day with the librarian, a day with the principal and a firetruck ride to school.
“There are not a ton of items,” Hardin said. “We focused on items that have been popular at previous auction events.”
The live auction will include a three-day stay at a condo in Branson, a five-day stay at South Padre Island, Texas, a 12-person shrimp-boil dinner, a 14-person mystery dinner experience and “Name the Street,” which allows someone to name the street leading from Jeffco Boulevard to the Holy Parish Church Road campus, which is home to the Immaculate Conception Church and Holy Family Catholic School, for a year.
“(‘Name the Street’) is historically bid on by an eighth grade parent,” Hardin said. “They typically name it for their child entering the final year at the school.”
There also will be raffles for a Holy Family-branded cooler, a Lottery ticket board and a Top Notch grill. A 50/50 drawing also will be included.
