If you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend, you might want to check out the Hillsboro Horse Show and Fall Festival.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 10349 Business 21, in Hillsboro.
General admission costs $5. Children 6 and younger and active and retired military members with IDs will be admitted for free.
The event is sponsored by the Hillsboro Community Civic Club and BNM Motorsports.
Those who want to participate in the horse show may register starting at 10 a.m., and the show will begin at noon in the STL Diesel Arena, featuring 31 classes of competition.
A fried chicken dinner hosted by Savannah’s Restaurant and Bar will be served beginning at 11 a.m. The cost is $17.
Several musical acts will perform on the Arnold Ready Mix Patio throughout the day, including Russ Wellington and Cody Coggins at 11:30 a.m. and Bill Scott at 3 p.m. The Hillsboro Rockin’ Hawks Choir will perform at 11 a.m. at the Pumpkin Patch to be set up on the fairgrounds.
Other activities include a cornhole tournament and raffles for a $300 gift card from Chuck’s Boots, as well as $500 for a night out at the Lemp Mansion in St. Louis.
Registration for the cornhole tournament costs $10 per person and begins at 12:30 p.m. at the RWZ Pavilion. The tournament kicks off at 1 p.m. Up to 20 teams will compete for cash prizes. The first-place team will receive $100, second place $75 and third place $50.
Other festival attractions include a fall maze, a dessert walk, pumpkin bowling, face painting, pony rides, crafts, caricatures, a butterfly aviary and blacksmith and chainsaw-carving demonstrations.
No pets, weapons, coolers or outside food and beverages will be permitted.
