The Herculaneum High School theater program will put on a production of the musical “Dare to Dream Jr.” featuring popular songs from Disney films.

The shows will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Herculaneum High School in the Dunklin R-5 Theatre, 1 Black Cat Drive, in Herculaneum.

This will be the first musical using the school’s newly upgraded lighting and sound system in the theater.

Admission costs $5 for adults and $3 for students. Tickets may be purchased at the door using cash or card or in advance online through Omella, an online ticket vendor, where the link can be found on the Herculaneum High School Theater Facebook page.

“This is a musical that revolves around a group of trainees that are on their first day at like a fictional Disney Imagineering studio of sorts,” said choir and theater director Andrew Brock. “(The musical) explores the power of dreaming…telling everybody that anything is possible.

“They do so through (singing) a whole bunch of Disney classics…contemporary songs and brand new medleys that are specific to this musical itself.”

Brock said the musical does not feature a main character.

“There are 15 lead roles,” he said. “There are two senior workers there, like player one and two, but there are no named (characters).”

The musical is co-directed by Brock and Senn-Thomas Middle School speech and language pathologist Karissa Onofre-Vernon, along with computer science teacher Courtney Stenzhorn, the choreographer.

The cast includes students Lillian Landrum, Alyssa Fuller, Olivia Blair, Kaydence Jones, Katelyn Blair, Lillian Rushing, Makaylee Graf, Haley Morgan, Nathan Durr, Elizabeth Gregg, Payton Baker, Alexis Brinkley, Olivia Salters, Lyla Marshall and Trinen Freitas-Williams.

The ensemble features students Hartley Baker, Andreanna Baumdmeier, Zoey Caruthers, Ariana Corder, Avery Dillion, Hailey Doster, Brooklynn Durr, Avery Farmer, Leela Hattemar, Wyatt Herman, Aubrey Howard, Zoey Hubbard, Emma Kaiser, Emma McClinton, Baily Myers, Rhylynn Segler, Luke Schultz, Grace Smith, Kylie Smith, Cayleigh Stenzhorn, Lacey Tidwell, Brionna Valdez, Tori VanWinkel, Amber Walker and Naomi Washington.
