The 11th annual Good Ol’ Truck & Tractor Pull will be held Saturday at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 10349 Business 21, in Hillsboro.
Mike Daugherty, the event chairman and vice president of the Hillsboro Community Civic Club, which sponsors the event, said he expects up to 5,000 people to attend.
Daugherty said this year’s event has attracted interest from tractor pullers in Illinois and Arkansas.
“This is the most interest we’ve had in years, it’s gotten huge,” he said.
Gates open at 5 p.m., and the truck and tractor pull starts at 6 p.m. in the STL Diesel Arena. The contestant gate opens at 3 p.m. Drivers must be 16 years old or older to participate and have a valid driver’s license. Participants younger than 18 must have parental consent.
Admission is $10. Children 10 and younger and active or retired members of the military get in for free. Pull registration is $25.
Daugherty said winners from different truck and tractor classes receive cash prizes. The event also is non-sanctioned, open class 100 percent payout.
“Whatever they pay goes back to their rides, we don’t keep anything,” Daugherty said.
Tickets may be purchased at the gate or online at www.jeffersoncountyfair.net.
Country rock cover band Broseph Tucker will perform at the RWZ Pavilion at 9 p.m. The quartet covers today’s hits along with classic songs from the 1980s.
Scottie Kemp will perform at the Arnold Ready Mix Patio at 5 p.m.
Kemp previously performed at this year’s Jefferson County Fair and Jefferson County Rodeo. He also frequently performs at the El Mariachi restaurant in House Springs.
A “Snow Much Fun Zone” will be available for children for no additional cost. The Snow-oriented inflatables will be open from 5-9 p.m. and a foam party is scheduled from 6-8 p.m.
Daugherty said proceeds from the event will be donated to BackStoppers, which supports the families of emergency responders who are killed or seriously injured in the line of duty.
Food vendors also will be at the event.
No weapons, outside food or beverage, pets or coolers will be permitted inside the fairgrounds.
