German music, dancing and refreshments will be highlighted at the Oktoberfest set for Friday through Sunday at Donau Park, 5020 W. Four Ridge Road in House Springs.
The German Cultural Society of St. Louis annual event takes place from 5-10 p.m. Friday, 5-10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
“We want the public to come out and be German with us all weekend,” said Joe Wendl, a member of the organization’s executive board. “Oktoberfest will offer plenty of German dancing, music, food and beer.”
There is no entry fee. Refreshments are offered for sale.
Wendl said the event attracts people from all over the St. Louis metropolitan area.
“We get people from St. Charles and across the river from Illinois,” he said. “We expect over 1,000 people to come over the three days.”
Attendees can see a new feature offered at Donau Park, he said.
“We opened a new beer garden next to the pavilion earlier this year,” he said.
Friday night is described as Bier Night. Bratwurst will be sold. The Wendl Band will perform.
On Saturday, meals of bratwurst with a side of sauerkraut balls or French fries will be sold. A la carte items offered include buckets of French fries and German chocolate cake. Die Spitzbuam provides the music.
The Sunday fare offered includes dinners of bratwurst and weisswurst served with a choice of two sides and a choice of apple or cherry strudel. The Deutschmeister Brass Band will perform.
Pretzels are sold at the event all three days. Food items are sold during the first three hours of each day’s activities, or until sold out.
The Kindertanzgruppe (children 3-12), Jugendgruppe (youth 12-26), Die Heimatgruppe (young adult 18-35), Volkstanzgruppe (adult 35 and over) and D’Frohliche Schuhplattler (all ages) dance groups will perform at various times throughout the weekend, Wendl said.
Those interested in playing in pick-up soccer games scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Sunday at a field at Donau Park are advised to wear appropriate athletic clothing, Wendl said.
Oktoberfest concludes German Cultural Society activities at Donau Park for the season.
“It’s our last event for 2026 at Donau Park,” Wendl said. “We still have events at our hall in south St. Louis.”
