There will be plenty of familiar faces and some new ones at the annual Fox High School Spring Craft and Vendor Fair to be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 11, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 12 at the Fox High School gym, 751 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold.
Karen Richison, president of the Fox High School Parents Club, said the spring fair will have 122 vendors. She said about 70 percent of those vendors have participated in the past and about 30 percent will be new to the fair.
The parents club organizes two fairs a year.
“(Returning vendors) are the backbone of our craft fair. We have people who come specifically for certain vendors,” Richison said. “There is a nice mix of returning vendors and new vendors.”
Richison said Lillian Otto, a fair favorite, is expected to sell her diamond-bead pictures during the spring fair.
She said some new vendors include Dee Thompson, who crafts wooden Easter baskets; Katy Kalhoff, who sells refurbished jewelry boxes; and Emily Ladin, who mounts and frames butterflies raised in conservatories.
“We have some interesting vendors this year,” Richison said.
She said the craft fair will feature plenty of items for the upcoming holidays
“There will be a lot of Easter and St. Patrick’s Day items,” she said. “There will be Easter baskets and items to put into Easter baskets.”
Richison said some vendors will sell manufactured items, like Mary Kay beauty products.
She said the club uses the money from the event to fund scholarships for Fox High seniors, to provide snacks during school-year testing days, to support senior banquets and to donate to the Lettermen’s Club’s Children’s Wish Drive, which provides presents to families in the district at Christmas.
She said the club made a donation to the school’s Students Against Destructive Decisions club so the group can hold an Arrive Alive event this school year.
Richison said the parents club collected about $8,000 during the fall fair, which was held in November, and she hopes to raise at least that much during the spring fair. She said the main goal is to make sure vendors and customers have a good time at the event.
“I hope to see smiles from everyone,” she said. “I hope everyone has a really great time and enjoys themselves.”
