Fox C-6 Community Fair set for Saturday

About 500 people attended the Fox C-6 School District’s Community Fair last year. This year’s event will be held Saturday at the Fox C-6 Service Center, 849 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold.

The Fox C-6 School District social work department will hold its second Community Fair this weekend.

The fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Fox C-6 Service Center, 849 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold. There is no cost to attend the event.

District social worker Kasey Hartmann said the event was created last year to provide area residents with information about different services local organizations offer.

Hartmann said the fair was started as a way to get the district more engaged with the community and other agencies that provide services.

About 500 people attended last year’s fair, she said.

Before that fair was held, the district held a similar event, but it was invite-only and was much smaller, Hartmann said.

“It was pretty cool and people liked it, but we wanted to make it bigger and get more people involved,” she said.

Hartmann said the event is intended to offer local residents the chance to visit with representatives from organizations that provide a variety of services, like legal services, safety instructions and support for parents and pregnant women.

“The main goal is to get everyone in the community connected to everything that is out there,” she said. “We want to educate community members about what is available for them.”

The event also includes plenty of family-friendly activities. Carnival games will be set up inside the Service Center and on the parking lot. Hartmann said families may play board games, assemble puzzles or color. A bounce house will be set up outside, and a clown will be on hand.

Hartmann said attendees also will have the chance to talk with representatives from the Arnold Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Rock Community Fire Protection District and Rock Township Ambulance District during the fair.

“They will be out there providing information about safety,” she said.

Those who attend the fair also will receive a ticket they may turn in for free food while supplies last, and free popcorn and shaved ice from Kona Ice will be available.

“We are hoping it will grow this year,” Hartmann said. “We have prepared for it to grow, and we are hoping it is bigger this year and that it will get a little bit bigger each year.”
