Festus High School is holding its homecoming activities this week, including a parade, varsity football game and dance.
“It’s a great week of fun activities for students, alumni, staff and the community to build Festus Tiger Pride,” district spokesman Kevin Pope said.
This year’s homecoming theme is “Disney.”
During the school week, each school will hold Spirit Days.
A homecoming parade will start at 1 p.m. Friday on Westwind Drive and will proceed to Mid-Meadow Lane and turn left on Robert Pryor Drive and then right on Sunshine Drive and left on Main Street, ending at Brierton Lane.
Retired U.S. Navy Capt. Thomas Hoffmann, a 1978 Festus High graduate, will ride in the parade. He also will be inducted into the Festus R-6 Hall of Fame at 5:30 p.m. that day at Festus High School, 501 Westwind Drive.
In addition, Hoffman, who went on to a distinguished military career, will be recognized at the Tiger stadium right before the football game, which starts at 7 p.m., when the Tigers take on the North County Raiders. Admission to the game is $3 for adults and $2 for students. Senior citizens may get in free with a pass that can be picked up at the Roy Burnside Administrative Building, 1515 Mid-Meadow Lane.
The homecoming king and queen will be announced during halftime. The homecoming court includes freshmen Beau Canaday, Landon Mercer, Aiden Schirmer, Mercie Daniels, Lillian Isaac and Ava Karr; sophomores Parker Perry, Camden Williams, Talan Wright, Kendall Counts, Rylee Lawrence and Jameshia Patterson; juniors Darreon Box, Cohen Compton, Robert Schaumberg, Kourtney Blecha, Laura Evans, Makenna Penberthy; and seniors Calvin Ellis, Brady Nolan, Mason Schirmer, Essien Smith, Kyley Bayer, Vivian Glaze, Haley Heibeck and Ella Mothersbaugh.
A homecoming dance for students will be held Saturday at Festus High.
