A new Festus Farmers Market will debut on Saturday morning. The market is sponsored by the Festus Main Street Association.

The Festus Farmers Market will be held from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday in October on the parking lot at the intersection of North Adams and North Second streets.

It is located behind Farmhouse Style Boutique, 101 E. Main St. and the Tree of Life Home Art Gallery, Fine Antiques, Artfully Renewed Furniture, 109 E. Main St.

Organizers said the new venture has already generated interest among food producers and other vendors.

“This is new to Festus. I believe we have 30 local vendors signed up,” said Amy Wilson, who along with Tricia Nelson is the market master.

Wilson said the vendors will offer a variety of products for sale.

“We’ve got local meats and honey and baked goods,” she said. “We’ve got someone doing jams and jellies. We’ve got various crafters.

“We’ve also got food trucks signed up for three of the four Saturdays, all but this one (on Saturday). And, we’re working to get a food truck for this Saturday.”

She said the market will be held rain or shine.
