If you are looking for ideas for a home improvement project you’ve been putting off, plan to attend De Soto Chamber of Commerce’s annual De Soto Lifestyle & Home Show on Saturday, April 18.

About 50 vendors will be on hand for the free event, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at De Soto High School, 815 Amvets Drive.

“De Soto Chamber of Commerce has added the word ‘Lifestyle’ this year to our 30th Annual Home Show to showcase that the event features way more in addition to construction and remodeling companies,” said Sarah Greenlee, the chamber’s office coordinator. “This free community event, not only hosts vendors centered around home products, but also focuses on health, wellness, safety, beauty, home decor, financial services, landscaping, hobbies and much more.”

She said there will be demonstrations involving new build construction, kitchen updates, sourdough, chunky blankets, fishing lures and plants. There will be activities for children, and ServPro will have an indoor bounce house. A meet and greet will be held for the Facebook group, “Show Me Adventures” from 10 a.m. to noon.

“Many booths will be giving away freebies, promotional items and hosting raffles,” Greenlee said. “Another major highlight of this event is our silent auction featuring a wide variety of items the whole family can enjoy. You may choose the ‘buy now’ option so you can leave with your items right away.

“Outside, we will have a food truck (Concessionaire Extraordinaire food truck of Valles Mines) present and booths displaying portable buildings, hunting blinds, fish feeders, etc.”

Greenlee said the chamber has been selling half-hog raffle chances, and the winner will be announced during the event.

“It will be a day the entire family can enjoy,” she said. “The 30th Annual Lifestyle & Home Show is your go-to destination for inspiration, fresh ideas, local connections and the perfect next steps to tackle those home projects you’ve been putting off.”

In addition, Greenlee said several nonprofit organizations will have booths.

“If you are looking to find new ways to make a difference or find purpose, this is the perfect opportunity to find out which organization may be a good fit for your lifestyle, while giving back to the community,” she said.

The next chamber event will be the annual golf tournament on Friday, May 1, at the Terre du Lac Golf Course. The theme, to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, is “Red, White & Blue Classic.” For more information about chamber events, visit desotomochamber.com.
