If you are looking to start a home improvement project or looking for ways to spruce up your home, the De Soto Home Show on Saturday will be a good place to start.
The 29th annual De Soto Home Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at De Soto High School, 815 Amvets Drive. The De Soto Chamber of Commerce and Leader Publications sponsor the event.
Sarah Greenlee, the chamber’s office coordinator, said more than 50 vendors will be on hand this year, and they’ll provide a wide range of products and services, including landscaping, siding, windows, doors, gutters, bath remodels, sunrooms and cabinetry and design. Other vendors include lenders, real estate agents, crafters, electricians, cleaning companies and nonprofit groups.
“A lot of vendors will have free giveaways and raffles,” Greenlee said.
The event will have activities for children, including an indoor bounce house.
“There will be a kids corner,” she said.
Heartland Realty, in partnership with Keran Fears of American Pacific Mortgage, will offer free photos with the Easter bunny from 1-3 p.m. Realtor Amanda Wall said Realtors have donated gift cards for local shops in De Soto that will be given away every hour on the hour. People must be present to win.
Greenlee said everything will be inside except for the food truck – Concessionaire Extraordinaire of Valles Mines. Coffee will be available for purchase inside the high school.
She said a huge silent auction will be held, with bidding ending at 2 p.m.
“There will be lots of Easter gift baskets, items for children, some adult margarita baskets, candy baskets, barbecue baskets, a wide variety of items,” she said.
Proceeds from the event will go to the chamber for future community events.
“We want to invite everyone to join us,” she said. “We love to see people from the community.”
The chamber’s next event will be its annual golf tournament, set for Friday, May 2, at Terre Du Lac Golf Course. To sign up or to be a hole sponsor, email the chamber at Desotomo_chamber@yahoo.com.
