Don’t miss out on the 27th annual De Soto Home Show set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at De Soto High School, 815 Amvets Drive. Admission and parking are free, and all ages are welcome to attend the event, which is sponsored by the De Soto Chamber of Commerce and Leader Publications.

Attendees are encouraged to stop by the chamber’s booth for a courtesy bag.

The chamber will sell Krispy Kreme doughnuts, with coffee available for purchase from Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck. The Concessionaire Extraordinaire food truck also will be at the event throughout the day, selling lunch and snack options.

Representatives from businesses offering a wide variety of home products and services will be on hand to display and demonstrate their wares at booths inside the school’s gymnasium on two levels and in outdoor spaces. Many will offer giveaways, discounts or drawings during the show, and some will have items for sale. Smart visitors will bring along pre-printed address labels, making it quick and easy to enter giveaways and sign up for information.

“We have more outdoors booths this year,” chamber office coordinator Sarah Greenlee said. “Pettus Automotive is bringing some vehicles, and we’ll have Farm and Homestead Equipment LLC. The Plant Truck will be there – it’s like a food truck, but they have a big selection of plants.”

New this year will be an electronics recycling event put on by TechRemove of St. Louis.

“They will take a lot of items for free, and some have a small fee,” Greenlee said. The company website at techremove.com offers a comprehensive list.

More than 60 vendors are scheduled to be at the event, including gutter services, cleaning companies, tree services, realty services, windows, power washing, lawn and landscaping, insurance services and financial services, as well as several direct sales vendors.

Representatives from Washington State Park, the De Soto Public Library and several churches also are slated to have booths. First responders from the De Soto Fire Department, De Soto Rural Fire Protection District and Valle Ambulance District will be on hand, as well staff from Jefferson County 911 Dispatch.

The event also will include a huge silent auction with a wide variety of items.

“We will have more than 70 baskets,” Greenlee said. “A sandbox; gardening tools and equipment; a wine basket; fire pits; home decor; pet items; wooden items; kitchen items – just a lot of stuff, from kids to adults. There’s definitely going to be something for everyone.”

Greenlee said photos of the auction items are available on the chamber’s Facebook page.

Proceeds from the event will help fund chamber activities and support other local community events.
