The De Soto High Theatre Department will present “Disney’s The Little Mermaid” this week.
Showtimes for the musical will be 6 p.m. today, March 6, through Saturday at the De Soto High School Auditorium, 815 Amvets Drive.
Tickets are $6 for students and $8 for adults.
Senior Josie Guertzgen plays Ariel, the mermaid.
“I’m so excited (about the play); everyone has put their heart and soul into this production,” she said.
Senior Cameron Blickenstaff, who plays Ariel’s love interest, Prince Eric, said he and his fellow students have wanted to perform “The Little Mermaid” musical for a long time.
“We’ve had a lot of fun,” he said. “I’m ready for my little cousins to come out and see it.”
Senior Cali Petty plays Sebastian the crab.
“I appreciate the depth of his character,” she said.
Petty said the show is sure to entertain people of all ages, adding that the set is impressive.
“It will be pretty once it’s all put together,” she said.
Cast members said they like the show’s songs, too.
Senior Josephine Foster said she has enjoyed playing the villainous sea witch Ursula.
“Ursula is a dark and evil character,” Foster said. “She’s taken big actions to get where she is, including killing all her sisters.”
Foster said audiences are sure to love the play.
De Soto High theater teacher Samantha Roop will direct the show. The student director is Charleigh Smith.
Other cast members include seniors Peggy Chandler, Delaney Martin, Kaitlyn Kamler, David Imhoff, Lexy Northcutt, Kaylee Michalik, Taylor Pirtle and Smith; juniors Cheyenne Crafton, Kalli Cooper, Quinn Williams, Alex Trimble and Gunner Olson; sophomores Drew House, Liv Walker, Jaelynn Van Meter, Brynn Hoelzer, Caden Hill, Kendall Davis and Bryce Wright; and freshmen Amelia Richardson, Amelia Duepner, Kelsey Urich, Camden Jansen and Ragan Moore.
