De Soto High School is celebrating homecoming this weekend with a parade, football game and dance.

Principal Jon Roop said the parade will start at 3 p.m. Friday at Gracelife Chapel, 1000 N. Main St., and then will turn west on St. Louis Street and ends at the football field parking lot.

For the homecoming football game, the De Soto Dragons will take on the Fredericktown Blackcats at 7 p.m. Friday. Admission is $3 for adults; $1 for students, except for De Soto School District students who may attend for free.

“We honor our homecoming court at approximately 6:30 p.m. right before the game,” Roop said.

The homecoming king and queen will be crowned during the homecoming dance on Saturday at the high school.

Members of the homecoming court include freshmen Lily Gipson, Raegan Shropshire, Payton Stearns, Talon Jarvis, Josh Golightly and Peyson Casey; sophomores Shelby Spreckelmeyer, Natalie Rogers, Kaydence Williams, Eli Thebeau, Brenton Drummond and Thomas Bradley; juniors Jaydin Gans, Kaitlyn Graham, Starr Miller, Dalton Reese, Grant Love and David Lueck; seniors: Ryle Gehrs, Jada Pinson, Helen Brennen, Mia Reissing, Andrew Blair, Craig Huskey, Chase McAllister, Brayden Young; and crown bearers Stella Tomlinson and Jaxon Roop.

California Dreamin’ is the theme for homecoming week.

Festivities began on Monday with students dressing up based on various themes.

Friday will begin with a pep rally at the high school, and school will dismiss early for the homecoming parade.
