Crystal City residents have an opportunity to celebrate community, safety and fun.
Crystal City will hold its annual National Night Out event from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the Darrell “Hickey” White Park, 237 County Road.
National Night Out is an annual community-building event that includes first responders, such as police officers and firefighters.
The event promotes police-community partnerships and helps people get to know their neighbors in an effort to make neighborhoods safer.
Crystal City Mayor Mike Osher said the event is free to attend and will include free food, drinks and Kona Ice.
He said the evening will include basketball games, cornhole games, drawings for two free televisions and a fire truck will be on site spraying water for children to enjoy and beat the heat.
“I look forward to National Night Out every year because it brings the community together,” Osher said. “It’s open to any resident in the city.
“It’s a time to meet the first responders, meet the police, meet the firefighters, meet your mayor, meet your councilmen. It’s a community gathering. We’re having it at our new Hickey White Park. It’s a great event.”
