There is still time to snag a booth at the fourth annual Jefferson County Job Fair, set for Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Fox C-6 Service Center, 849 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold.
A variety of businesses will staff booths with representatives to talk with prospective employees, take resumes and answer questions.
The fair is sponsored by five local entities: Leader Publications, the city of Arnold, the Arnold Chamber of Commerce, the Fox C-6 School District and Jefferson College.
Jefferson College will be involved in the fair in several ways.
Resume specialists from the college will review participants’ resumes and offer suggestions for cover letters and help with interview skills and more.
But there is more to job-seeking success than paperwork. Lack of proper business attire can be a surprising obstacle to the interview process.
That’s where the college’s Career Closet comes in. Located in the Career and Technical Education building on the Hillsboro campus, it is a free resource for students and others in need of professional and interview attire. From business casual to full suit-and-tie, the clothing is donated from those who live in and around Jefferson County.
For the first time, this year’s Job Fair will offer a limited number of free business attire items from the Career Closet.
A professional photographer also will be at the event to take free pictures of participants to be used on social media or with their resumes.
Many of the vendors will offer giveaways, and attendees also will have the chance to win prizes at the event.
A special section will be published in the Oct. 13 Leader with detailed information about fair activities, schedules and profiles of some of the participants.
