De Soto Lions barbecue, 10 a.m. to sold out, Save A Lot, 2050 Rock Road, De Soto. The menu will feature ribs, pork steaks, brats, hamburgers, cheeseburgers and hot dogs with two sides of potato salad and baked beans. Proceeds will go toward purchasing eyeglasses for those in need.

Boy Scout Troop 450 annual tailgate and barbecue, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Fox Service Center, 849 Jeffco Blvd., Arnold. The scouts will have hamburgers, hot dogs, pulled pork and brats. There will also be local vendors in attendance.

Spring hike, 9 a.m. to noon, Kress Farm Garden Preserve, 5137 Glade Chapel Road, Hillsboro. The free event offers a view of Missouri’s spring trees and wildlife. The University of Missouri Extension field specialist in natural resources, Sarah Higgins, will teach ways to identify different trees at stops along the 1-mile hike. Attendees should dress casually and wear comfortable shoes. The event will be held rain or shine, but it will be postponed if there is severe weather. Sponsor: Missouri Women Owning Woodlands. St. Pius X Car Show, 9 a.m., St. Pius X High School, 1030 St Pius Dr. 3746, Crystal City. Registration is $20 and will be from 9 a.m. until noon with awards and drawings starting at 2:15 p.m. With more than 35 judge classes, all vehicles are accepted including motorcycles and side x sides. First and second place trophies awarded in each class, more than 10 specialty awards given and dash plaques and goody bags for the first 100 registered vehicles. Proceeds go toward tuition assistance for families. In addition to the car show, there will also be a swap meet, car parts and automotive-related vendors and a craft fair. A breakfast will be served from 7-10:30 a.m. and a lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A beer tent and beverage sales will be available. Raffles, 50-50 drawings and business-donated attendance prizes. Pre-registration to enter a car is available until 7 p.m., Friday, May 9, at form.jotform.com/spxcarshow/registration.
