Free blood pressure checks, 11:15 a.m. to noon, the Timbers of Eureka, 1 Coffey Park Lane. The Eureka Fire Protection District will offer free blood pressure checks for seniors on the first Thursday of the month.

Senior lunch, 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., first Thursdays, the Timbers of Eureka, 1 Coffey Park Lane, Eureka. Cost: $7 residents; $8 for others. Friday, July 4

Fourth of July Festival, 11 a.m., Amvets Post 48, 1075 Amvets Drive, De Soto. Pork steak and half chicken dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $12. The Biergarten is open from 4 p.m. until close. Cook shack open from 4 p.m. until dusk. Hot dogs, burgers, funnel cakes. Parking on the grounds for fireworks: $5.

Free fireworks display, 6 p.m., Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 10349 Business 21, in Hillsboro. Gates open at 6 p.m., and the fireworks show is expected to begin at dusk. Spectators are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, blanket or something to sit on. Festivities will include a DJ, concessions, face painting and pony rides. Outside food and alcohol are permitted. No pets or firearms are allowed. Sponsor: The Hillsboro Community Civic Club.

Fourth of July Parade, 10 a.m., De Soto’s Main Street. Parade goes south on Main Street and ends at JC Culwell Stadium. A fireworks display will take place at dusk at De Soto High School baseball field. Organized by the De Soto Chamber of Commerce.

Independence Day celebration, 6-10 p.m. Central Avenue Spur, 394 S. Central Ave., Eureka. Enjoy a show by local band, Count of Monte Carlo, grab a snack from local food vendors and watch a fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. Parking for this event is available at the new lot behind Central Avenue Spur, Central Avenue, City Hall Parking lot or any other public parking locations. Weather permitting, the rain date for this event will be Saturday, July 5. Sponsor: Eureka Parks and Recreation Department.

Saturday, July 5

Fourth of July celebration, 2-8 p.m., Washington State Park, 13041 Hwy. 104, south of De Soto. At 2 p.m., Join the park team in discussing ways to plan a foolproof picnic for your entire family or group of friends at the Big River Day-Use Area Shelter. Fireworks display, noon, Big River VFW Post 5331, 1 Lynn Lane, Cedar Hill. The day will feature food, beverages, music and fireworks at dusk. Attendees may not bring in outside alcohol, but may bring in soft drinks and snacks. Barbecue, baked beans and coleslaw will be sold. Beer will be sold in the pavilion, and mixed drinks will be available in the club room. Only cash will be accepted, but there will be an ATM on site.
