The fall festival will offer demonstrations and kids activities.

Members of the community are invited to the Byrnes Mill Fall Festival held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Byrnes Mill Park, 3803 Lower Byrnes Mill Road.

The city’s last fall festival was held in 2019.

“We haven’t done it since pre-COVID,” said City Clerk Melinda Benedict. “In August, we decided we wanted to try and do it again.”

City Administrator Adam Thompson said the festival has an approximate budget of $1,500. The festival will include free face painting, balloon art, a bounce house and a petting zoo. Feeding the animals will cost $1.

“We just want everybody to come out, socialize and have a good time,” Thompson said. “It will be fun for everybody.”

Kids activities will be set up, as well as vendors making and selling crafts, jewelry, and honey. Tours of the historic Hagemeister House, located in the city park, will be available for those interested.

The Northwest Historical and Preservation Society will hold demonstrations on shoe cobbling, candle dipping, spinning and weaving.

The Hagemeister House was built by Charles Hagemeister, a German immigrant, in 1871. The house is preserved by the Northwest Historic and Preservation Society with support from the city of Byrnes Mill and Jefferson County, according to the Byrnes Mill website.

Benedict said local vendors are welcome to apply for a spot at the festival.

“If new vendors show interest, we have room to put more in there,” she said.

Vendors can apply at the city’s website, byrnesmill.org. The cost to set up a booth is $20.

“I personally think (the festival) is a good opportunity for the community to come back together,” Benedict said.
