Mark your calendar for the Festus Senior Expo, set for 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, March 22, at the Sacred Heart Parish Annex Building in Crystal City.

There will be a full morning of vendors, guest speakers, bingo and live music. Many vendors will offer giveaways and attendance prizes, and guests can sign up for two special prizes with Leader Publications, which sponsors the event.

One name will be drawn at random from all eligible entries for the grand prize, courtesy of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.

It includes a voucher for two free tickets to any classical performance, two drink vouchers, two dessert vouchers, valet parking and a reusable “swag bag” filled with various SLSO merchandise, such as a water bottle with reusable straw, umbrella, hat and more.

“They have some great upcoming programs,” said Leader digital marketing manager Katelyn Mary Skaggs. “The winner will be able to choose which one best fits their schedule.”

All five of this year’s Leader Senior Expos will feature a prize from the St. Louis Art Museum. The prize package includes a custom museum bag, a one-year museum membership, books, greeting cards and other materials. This is also a random drawing; those interested should sign up at the Leader Publications booth.

Free doughnuts and coffee will be offered at the expo, and two sessions of free bingo will be held, with small prizes and gift certificates awarded as prizes.

Guest speakers include Jennifer Hines from Miracle Ear, who will talk about home safety and hearing loss; Festus Fire Protection District Capt. Jeff Brown and Crystal City Police Sgt. Kyle Boyer, who will cover topics related to safety specific to senior citizens; and Festus Public Library director Elizabeth Steffen, who will speak about programs and services the library offers.

The expo will close out with a performance by the crowd-pleasing J.B. Louis and the Legends band.

More information about the expo, along with the winning photos in the associated “Show Off Your Grandkids” photo contest, will be published in the March 16 issue of the Grand Times, the Leader’s publication for seniors.
